What I Learned in 2020

I’m sure I don’t need to go into detail as to why twenty-twenty was a lot, for everyone. Normally at this time of year I would do a recap, but I wasn’t sure it was worth doing for this year specifically. A few days ago I saw some people on twitter listing their 2020 achievements despite the pandemic, which I felt ambivalent about. Upon thinking about it, I realised I could instead write a “what I learned this year” post, which would acknowledge both the bad and the good of this year. I am going to be completely honest with this, as 2020 was a wild ride — and I ended up actually learning a lot about myself, too.

So, without furder ado, let’s just jump straight into it! In no particular order, here is what I learned in 2020.

I can’t believe it’s the end of 2019. This year has flown by and now 2020 is almost upon us. Many people are recapping their 2019s (and even the whole decade) and I wanted to do so as well, just in my own way.

28 By 28: Results

Depending on whether you’ve been following my blog since its conception or not, you might be familiar with this “little” challenge I set for myself back in June 2018 called 28 By 28. The concept was simple: I made a list of 28 things I wanted to do or accomplish before I turned 28.

Looking back on this challenge, I can say with hindsight that this was probably a bit too ambitious: 28 things is a lot when you include a move to another city, the start of a full-time degree and all the projects that came with it. Not to mention that I made this list back in the summer, and sometime between the end of autumn/beginning of the new year, I realised that I wanted to focus less on quantity and more on quality — basically, I stopped paying attention to my 28 By 28 list as I decided to focus on fewer, more important aspects of my life, so as to not stretch myself too thin. I kept the list up, but I stopped trying to actively cross things off it about halfway through the year.

So, with that in mind, I thought it could still be fun to review my 28 By 28 list, see what I did manage to cross off (even without trying to) and maybe this will help me think of a better page to put in its place. So let’s begin!

Tales from December

This is technically a monthly recap, just not in the way that I used to set up my monthly recaps up until September. That, and it’s decidedly more laid back, a bit random and generally less organised than those old monthly recaps. ?

So, December! Aka Christmas month! I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed your holidays. I am happy to say that, in general, I have enjoyed my Christmas. ❤️ And this year I got some absolutely lovely presents all around!
